The portal covers public case information from the Circuit Court for Washington County and the District Court of Maryland for Washington County. It is a public case summary and docket tool, so copies of pleadings, orders, certified judgments, and older file material still come from the proper court office.

Before starting, gather the exact case number if it appears on a summons, citation, charging document, notice, attorney letter, or payment record. A name search can work for broad research, but common names need filters. Confirm the court location before relying on a result. Circuit Court results should identify the Circuit Court for Washington County. District Court results should identify the District Court of Maryland for Washington County in Hagerstown.

Public Access for Washington County Court Records

Maryland public access begins with the public court docket, but it is not the only rule set. Md. Code, General Provisions § 4-101 defines Public Information Act terms such as custodian and public record. General Provisions § 4-206 allows reasonable charges for search, preparation, and reproduction. Court records are also controlled by court rules, judicial orders, redaction rules, expungement statutes, sealing orders, and statutes that make some records confidential.

Washington County Copy Requests
